Gajoldoba (Bhorer Alo)-
8 kms (8 minutes) Drive way from Hornbill Nest

Situated along the Gajoldoba Canal at the site of the Teesta Barrage, it offers a grand view of the vast water reservoir and the beautiful mountains in the background. Surrounded by the dense forest of Baikunthapur, the reservoir is a host to numerous Migratory Birds from around the Central Asian Region. It’s a Paradise for Nature Loving Tourists and Bird Watchers.

Lataguri-
36 kms (54 minutes) Drive way from Hornbill Nest

A Tourist Spot in Jalpaiguri District, it is located around the Gorumara National Park on N.H.31. Permits for Gorumara National Park and Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary are issued from Lataguri. There is also a “Nature Interpretation Centre’’ which provides you with information about the Flora & Fauna of the Region.

Gorumara National Park-

A medium sized park, situated in Dooars, at the Himalayan Foothills of Northern West Bengal having abundant Grasslands and Forests. It is primarily known for its population of Rhinos and is conveniently located near the towns of Malbazar and Maynaguri. For the year 2009, the park had been declared as the best among the protected areas in India, by the Ministry of Environment and Forests. Having been a Reserve Forest since 1895,Gorumara was declared a Wildlife Sanctuary in 1949 and was granted the official status as a National Park on 31st January,1994.

Murti-

A picturesque spot in Dooars along the Murti River. It is a Paradise for the Nature Lovers and Environmentalists. The river has greenery all along its banks and flows with a strong current during the Rainy Season. At other times, when the weather is dry, the river flows knee-deep and a dip in its cool, crystal clear waters is truly a divine experience.

Malbazar Hanuman Mandir-

This artistically built Mandir was constructed by the local Marwari community at Malbazar. The inauguration ceremony of the Mandir was conducted in royal grandeur with the showering of flowers from a helicopter.

Bhramari Devi Mandir-

An important spiritual destination in the Jalpaiguri Area,it is one of the 5 Shaktipeeths of Devi Sati Durga. It is believed that the left leg of Devi Sati fell at Trisotya, Salbari Village, Bidaganj where the Mandir is located.

Rocky Island-

Bengal Safari Park-
28 kms (56 minutes) Drive way from Hornbill Nest

Situated within the verdant Forest of the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, it is the first Safari Park in North Bengal. With an area of approx 700 Acres, it is abundant in Wildlife viz. Sambar, Deer, Jungle Fowl, Wild Boars, Spotted Deer and Rhinos. If you are Lucky, you may even get to spot the Royal Bengal Tiger. The Park is a 8 km drive from Siliguri on the Sevoke Road and is open from Tuesday to Sunday (8:30 am to 5:30 pm). It’s a must visit destination.

Loleygaon-
82 kms (2 Hrs 40 minutes) Drive way from Hornbill Nest

These are quaint little Hamlets under the Kalimpong Block of Darjeeling District, surrounded by forests. Lava is at an altitude of 7700 ft, while Lolegaon is lower, at 5500 ft., offering a breathtaking View the Mountains. Because of the proximity to each other, it is worth the while to include both these places, in your itinerary. From NJP, Lava is 105 kms away (via Kalimpong) and 119 kms away (via Gorubathan). Lolegaon is a further 12 kms from Lava, involving a picturesque 3.5 hours drive.

Medla Watch Tower, Ramsai.

Medla Watch Tower is in Gorumara National Park and you need to book a separate Safari to visit, just like the other ones like Jatraprasad, Chukchuki, Chandrachur,etc.Your trip (which includes entry permit, guide and Transport,etc.)can be booked at their Lataguri Counter. If you take the last trip, you will be lucky to be able to watch the Tribal Dance in the evening (at a little extra cost.)
